About this Event

Author of Dogs at the Perimeter (2011) and the Booker Prize nominated Do Not Say We Have Nothing (2016), Madeleine Thien talks about culture, diaspora and her writings, with Erica Wagner.

Madeleine Thien was born in Vancouver and has written about topics as diverse as music and human rights, personhood, female beauty, state surveillance, visual art, race, literary politics, neighbourhoods and the Québec rodeo. She won the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize, as well as the Governor-General’s Literary Award for Fiction and is Professor of English at Brooklyn College.

Erica Wagner is an author, lecturer and literary judge. In 2014 she won the Eccles Centre and Hay Festival Writer's Award for her book, Chief Engineer (2017), a biography of Washington Roebling, builder of the Brooklyn Bridge.
