The Friday Files - Canadian News, December 17, 2021

Coming very close to a holiday break with today’s newsletter, our last full edition until the New Year. We’re excited this week to share very positive news about available scholarship funding from the Canada Memorial Foundation and from our friends at the Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund. Although obviously this positive news doesn’t take away from the seriousness of the situation with Omicron in the UK at the moment, we hope it does provide some modest ray of hope that we are all working together toward a brighter future.

We are also very pleased to share news from Dr Allan Greer and Dr Jane McCaughey, recipients of the Foundation’s Fellowship with the Eccles Centre British Library. The field of Fellowship applications was exceptionally strong this year, and it was the unique nature and high impact of the Greer and McCaughey research which helped their research applications shine through a very difficult selection process.

In addition to the scholarship and Fellowship news, this week we share a few highlights of past and future, with Sandy treating us to a look at what we must have on our arts calendar in 2022.

On behalf of all of us at the Canada-UK and Canada Memorial Foundation, we hope for a peaceful holiday season for everybody. Warmest thanks for your unstinting support in 2021 and heartfelt wishes for health and success in 2022.
