An update from our CMF Scholar- Alice Craft

It has been a couple of months since my move to Canada ! I have got into my research routine over here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After a hectic first few weeks I am feeling settled in my new ocean-side home. University highlights have included becoming a member of the Research Network for Women, Peace and Security based out of McGill <https://www.mcgill.ca/rnwps/about-us> (spot me on the 'Members' page under the 'Students' tab!) and being recruited on to the Varsity Women's Basketball Team at Dalhousie. These are just a couple of examples of the unanticipated but exciting opportunities this transition in my life has brought.

My university schedule is very demanding as I am already working on my final research proposal for my Masters thesis - alongside extensive coursework! Though the course keeps me very busy, I have enjoyed getting involved in the Dalhousie PoliSci Graduate Society and attending conferences and panel discussions held at Dalhousie (and other universities virtually).

Outside of university life, I have been trying to make the best of the fall weather and explore some of the natural beauty of Nova Scotia (see pic of me hiking up to Cape Split- if you can't tell it was extremely windy!).

I want to thank you again for all your support in realising this incredible opportunity and I look forward to sharing more experiences with the CMF throughout my study! If you are thinking about applying for next year- do not hesitate, this opportunity has been life-changing!
